Frequently asked questions
When did you open Southern Timeless Candles Candle Bar & Boutique?
We opened Southern Timeless Candles Candle Bar & Boutique officially in February 2024.
Do customers need to make an appointment to make a candle?
If they have less than ten people in the group, no, we encourage walk-ins. We ask for large groups of 10 or more to make appointments.
Are kids allowed to participate in candle making?
Absolutely, we have had kids as young as 4 years old make candles, closely supervised of course.
When someone comes to make a candle, how much does it cost?
The cost depends on the package you choose. We have five different packages now, each one is different depending on jar style, candle and wax melt quantity.
What made you want to bring this experience to Gatlinburg?
We know that candles can spark memories based on the scents and allowing people to create their own in a place that is meant for creating memories, we felt this would be perfect!
What do you think makes you stand out from other candle stores in the area?
First, we are the only place that you can make your own candle without needing to make an appointment first. We allow walk-ins for small groups and for larger groups we ask that you make appointments so we can make sure we can accommodate the space.
When talking about your candle making experience, are you using non toxic ingredients?
We use coconut-apricot wax for our candles which is considered a non-toxic smooth luxury wax.
Are you a certified candle maker?
While being a candle maker does not need a degree, we have many years of knowledge and skills in this field to be able to not only make but also assist others in making their own.
While you seem to have great reviews, one of your last reviews was negative due to being closed on a day you were supposed to be open, does this happen frequently?
We do our best not to close however, we are a small family business and post all updates on Facebook should anything come up. We do know that people plan their vacations and trips in advance so we do our best to be here for that.
Are you afraid that people will burn themselves when dealing with hot wax?
The wax is hot, however, all of our customers are aware of this and enjoy the experience. This wax has also been known to be used as lotion when warm so most of the time when it gets on people's skin they just rub it in before we can even hand them a paper towel. We do have burn cream on hand if ever we need it however, the wax would not cause them to need that unless they came in direct contact with the inside of the heating pot (an absolute no-no).
